What?
The Greater Milford Area Historical Society and The Milford Theatre Guilde are
pleased to announce the upcoming historic walk through Greenlawn Cemetery in
Milford. This year we will feature several new stops along the way including
a stop at the classic art deco Gatch monument in the area referred to as the
Gatch Circle. Ten members of the Gatch family are laid to rest in the shadow
of this beautiful monument.
This year is the 200th anniversary of one of the earliest and best known sites in Greenlawn. Elizabeth Gatch, wife of the Reverend Phillip Gatch, was buried on the property in 1811 on what was then the Gatch farm. Reverend Gatch later gave the land to his heirs with the stipulation that it continued to be used for burials. The Milford Fire Department is also planning a memorial to Milford Firefighters. This is very fitting as we acknowledge the 10 year anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11/2001. Click here for additional details or to register for tickets. When?Oct 9th 2011
